Show me LORD

Mathew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Labeling an outcome can be made as possible or impossible. Our LORD operates in both, however, the glory for God is in the outcomes of the seemingly impossible as then man cannot claim the credit. What are the seemingly impossible affliction andaspects before or within you? Do you have a resigned acceptance? Or do you name the affliction and bring it to our LORD. Asking the Father, ‘‘If I must carry this burden, then give me the strength and perseverance; or, if your wish is that this burden is temporary, then show me LORD.’’ Jesus will share your burden either way and reveals himself most wonderfully when asked in deep prayer. The foundation

1 Thessalonians 2:2 ‘It was our God who gave us the courage to proclaim his Good News to you in the face of great opposition.’

Blessed friends, perceived social acceptability can be the overriding decider on whether to proclaim the Good News or not. Our LORD has given you a courage on how, when and with whom to proclaim. Have you searched for the promptings of God’s Spirit? Blindly speaking out requires first a foundation with God. That foundation is copious and loving prayer with the Father, our gracious LORD knows that when you speak that what flows should reflect what is happening in your heart. Empty proclaiming is what the Pharisees did. Our LORD wants you to distribute his seed. Ready your heart with uninterrupted prayer each day, in the same place, same time. Our LORD is waiting for you. Bless you.

Being led by God’s Sprirt

Acts 20:22 ‘And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.’

What a wonderful Scripture! Here Paul places his trust firmly in God’s hands. As humans we like to know what to expect, here Paul acknowledges that he is compelled, not by a vague thought or prompting. Do you ever seek a walk compelled by the Spirit which carries unforeseen possibilities? It is really only in this realm that when we enter when in total submission to God, we come onto the path that God has laid out for us. To enter this realm requires intimate prayer and fasting. Let God speak to you, let the Good Shepherd lead you. A better path and destination awaits you. Pray for strength today to trust our LORD on a far deeper level. Bless you.

God’s creation

Luke 1:44 ‘For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy.’

Titled planned parenthood around the world, in other words abortion on demand. Claimed convenience being the overriding factor influencing the decision. A baby’s heart beat starts at about 3 weeks, a baby has nerves, feels pain and can hear – that is life. Claimed women’s rights devoid of baby’s rights is genocide of the unborn by abortion.

Has the media fostered a deep apathy within many people of faith? ‘‘Heard about that, but I cannot go and stand outside an abortion clinic with a placard.’’ But what can you do? Blessed brothers, faith and daily prayer for the safety of the unborn, the demise of the abortion clinics, the changing of the hearts of those who murder. Will we as people of faith be called to account? ‘‘Yes, I watched, was aware and did nothing.’’ Or, ‘‘I prayed daily and fought for God’s creation.’’ Ask our LORD what he calls you to do. Bless you.

Prayer. Blessed Father, please heal this world of the desire for comfort and convenience, that life is truly treasured, your creation is valued.

The eyes of your hearts

Ephesians 1:18 ‘..having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you’

The spiritual heart is positioned for the light of God to shine in, you are called to open that heart to the grace and mercy of our LORD. Intellect and the calls of modernism to change Jesus holy church are attempts to elevate the stature of man above God or to be devoid of God. We cannot reason our way into salvation as products of intellectual choices, we are presented with the great gift of Jesus and his grace; when he is enlightening your heart you will be filled with hope, the state of the heart is more important than the state of the mind. Hope of our LORD is unable to be spiritually reasoned in the mind but is an outpouring of our LORD into your heart. May the hope in Jesus fill your heart today. Bless you.

Don’t waste suffering

Mathew 6:33 ‘But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.’

Sometimes the way forward may be clouded by circumstances and distraction, everyone is searching even the atheists and agnostics look for purpose and understanding. The question is where do you place your search? Psalm 34:19 ‘Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.’ So we knowingly search for God and his righteousness with the understanding that we are exposing ourselves to challenges to our faith. Affliction/hardship/difficulty/loss and many more. It is really only through this affliction that we grow close to our LORD by sharing this suffering with Jesus on the cross. It is through this sharing of this suffering our burden is lightened. Blessed sisters and brothers, the difficulty is not the end but the beginning for you to persevere and say the LORD delivers him out of them all. Speak to the LORD, he also suffered on the cross. Demanding or hoping for confirmation from God? The people around Jesus made their faith conditional on what sign do you do? What happens when you reach out in prayer asking God for something to happen and you do not see the immediate result? Is your faith conditional on a sign? Hope is a gift from God. Blessed friends, hope is not static but a journey in the present and for far deeper things beyond a present sign. Hope needs to be nurtured and visited each day in prayer. Rather than asking God for a sign that you want, ask him to show his love for you. Our LORD has great love and grace in store for you. The mysteries of perseverance carry great reward. Place your hopes and prayers before God today. ‘‘I trust in you LORD Jesus, I trust in you.’’ Bless you.

The poor

Mathew 26:11 ‘The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.’

Jesus shows that his physical life on earth was temporal, but that the poor will remain. Why is this? Why did Jesus not come to dispense with the poor and bring physical wealth to all? In this time before Good Friday we can ask what do we do for the poor? Have our consciences been overwhelmed by the massive volume of poor and suffering? The poor are a reflection of the actions of humanity. James 2:15,16 ‘Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!” – if you don’t give them the necessities of life?’ Bring God’s love to those in need. May God bless you in this Holy week remembering Jesus’s crucifixion.

The lit path

John 8:12 "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

It may be very difficult for a follower of Christ who is very ill, has suffered loss or is absorbed by circumstances. The great beauty in this Scripture is that whilst we as humans want outcomes that we can see and feel really soon, Jesus offers light that carries hope, right choices, future salvation as well as the companionship of Christ. There are many paths that lead away from the path lit by Jesus, all other paths have a downhill gradient and ultimately lead to the top of a perilllous cliff shrouded in dark mist. The LORD has placed a desire for obedience to him a desire to love and be loved by him. You may find the path of Christ difficult at times, never give in or give up. Jesus is with you. Bless you.
