Loyalty to

James1:8 ‘Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.’

The daily challenge, ‘‘How do I know where my loyalties lie as I get so very drawn into the world?’’ We physically live in this world, but where does the focus of our spiritual being reside? A basic premise is that when you want something to work, you give it/the person time; whether studies, relationships, completing projects or your faith. As you stand right now where do your loyalties truly lie? Can you elevate the amount of time that you give to our LORD? How do you look at time with God? – An obligation or a distraction from perceived important time in the world? Or as a time of renewal, a daily time to reconnect with the Father and to obtain real purpose? True loyalty to God is when you can place God’s calling first. Bless you.

Prayer. Holy Father, may the flame of loyalty to you be lit in all our hearts. Please enable the safe release of Fr Tom from Isis.

The meditations of my heart

Jeremiah 31:26 ‘At this I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me’

Rest and sleep may not be the same thing. Have you ever woken still tired in the morning? Psalm 127:2 ‘…..for God gives rest to his loved ones.’ Many have sleep formulae, some may involve medication, but it revolves around sleep and not peace and rest. If you go back to when you were a child, in Christian homes it was very often prayer time before bedtime. We never have to lose that beautiful prayer time with God from childhood showing your love for the Father before he gives rest to his loved ones. Silence before God in humble prayer at night will bring you restful sleep. Bless you.

Prayer. Holy LORD, may the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to you. Please enable the safe release of Fr Tom from Isis.

Please advise if any on prayer list are now well and can be removed.

New sight

Psalm 146:8 ‘…the LORD gives sight to the blind.’

Seeing but not understanding is a great disability. A spiritual disability far supersedes a physical one. For every troubled question the LORD has an answer which may be closer than you actually realize. Mathew 13:10,13 ‘The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"… This is why I speak to them in parables: "Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’ Great meaning comes from repeated slow reading of Holy Scripture coupled with stillness before God. Great sight, insight and understanding is ready as God’s gift for you, you have been searching. Our LORD answers you.

Prayer. Holy Father, please bring heart momentum to your children especially those with deeply troubling questions. Please enable the safe release of Fr Tom from Isis.

God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians 9:6 ‘Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.’

The major difference between storing up of seed and planting of seed is one of either looking through the eyes of the world or the eyes of our LORD. Stored seed is dormant, whereas sown seed can germinate and multiply. ‘‘But sowing is risk, so I would rather sow sparingly.’’ Are worldly investments better than God’s spiritual investments? Blessed friends, sowing is the essence of your relationship with the LORD. Jesus sowed his life so that humanity could be given the opportunity of salvation. Seed may be money, but is also, sowing in prayers, encouragement, time, self-denial, kindness, consideration, faithfulness……. 2 Corinthians 9:7 ‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’ What does your heart say today? A reluctant or joyful space? Bless you.

Prayer. Holy Father, thank you for your abundant mercy and love. Please enable the safe release of Fr Tom from Isis.

The potter

Isaiah 64:8 ‘Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.’

Both mud and clay have purpose one for germinating seed and the other can be used to make pottery and fine porcelain. Clay needs to be rolled and flattened repeatedly to ensure that there are no air bubbles otherwise the pot when put in a baking kiln will break when heated, before baking the clay is spun and molded on the potter’s wheel. This is like our lives, as we go through some often difficult preparation by the LORD – as a potter, it is because he wants to create magnificent vessels. Do you let the LORD shape you? Do you let him add water when clay is too dry? Do you allow the constant turning on the wheel to overwhelm you at times? See beyond the heat of the kiln and time spent in preparation, as you choose to be part of the Father’s wonderful work. Bless you.

Overflowing its banks

Isaiah 32:20 ‘Happy and fortunate are you who cast your seed upon all waters when the river overflows its banks; for the seed will sink into the mud and when the waters subside, the plant will spring up;’

As humans we like certainty and may avoid the unknown and unpredictable. Casting seed out on a river with no certainty of the seed’s destination may seem like foolishness. We like to avoid the mud as well as it can stick to body, shoes and clothes. Our LORD combines worldly uncertainty with his purpose as he never means us to control the seed we sow. The LORD combines a flowing river, overflowing its bankssink into the mud, waters subside, the plant will spring up. What is amazing about this beautiful Scripture is that there must be a flood or turbulence before river banks overflow. The same in your life, new growth comes out of the floods of this world, the very mud we avoid is the seedbed of great things in your life. What goodness can you see germinating from your difficulties? Bless you.

Nourishment and nurturance

Proverbs 4:20-22 ‘My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.’

If we read Holy Scripture only once we may miss the deep richness of our LORD’s words as the Bible is not a philosophy, a set of rules, a qualification; it is much, much more. Scripture will speak many things, it can speak a contextual answer into your life and circumstances, it will teach, guide and nurture you, it may confirm your thinking. ‘‘But there are many things in Scripture I do not understand.’’ That is why you can pray, seek counsel from the church, fast but most importantly seek the face of Jesus. Jesus steadfast love will show you the path, that irreplaceable time with Jesus will be your compass on the path. Holy Scripture should be read repeatedly. Hebrews 4:12 ‘For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’ Bless you.

Holy Father, gracious God, please nurture in your children a desire to read your word. Please enable the safe release of Fr Tom from Isis.
