Mark 1:35 ‘In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place and prayed there.’
What a fascinating Scripture. On the face of it the message to go and pray early in quietness, further looking at the word lonely is a word related to possibly abandonment, rejection, no one to talk to and yet at this place and in this space Jesus talks to the Father. Scripture could have used the word quiet. Our LORD brings us this great teaching of opposites – the world view versus God’s view, where the world describes and associates negatively with the word lonely…. is God’s domain. The world may reject you, people may judge you, in the eyes of the world you may not qualify, but you are never alone. Seeking and guarding in love your lonely space with God. Understanding that space is where you start a qualification for salvation. Where are lonely spaces that you have glossed over before? May you be blessed in your search.
