Luke 5:23 ‘Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?’
In this great Scripture Jesus addresses the spiritual and then later the physical in regard to healing a paralysed man. Why does Jesus use the word easier? Is that word easier for Jesus or for the crowd present? The message that Jesus carries is one of divine authority first. You may be carrying a medical impediment, but what about those also spiritually paralysed? Spiritual paralysis can be from the bonds that quietly wrap your heart, turn by turn with strands of anger, frustration, unforgiveness, no or little prayer and other sin. A heart pumping without prayer and reconciliation with God will be a heart that has bonds coiling slowly tighter and tighter. Time to break free. Liberate that wonderful heart that you have been gifted with. You have much love to give, to God and others. Bless you.
Prayer. Holy and special Father, may this time of Advent be a time of expectancy, a time heralding in King Jesus in our lives. Please bring soaking gentle rain to South Africa and dry parts of the world. Please break the drought in South Africa. May Ashley’s soul rest in peace.
