Luke 18:22 ‘There is still one more thing….. Sell all you have and give the money to the poor and you will have riches in heaven, then come and follow me.’
One of the wonderful parts in this Scripture of Jesus talking to the rich man, is that Jesus actually never asks for you to give something away for free, give the money to the poor and you will have riches in heaven. People of faith want wealth on earth and in heaven – possible? The other wonderful part of this Scripture is really more than wealth creation – it is one of true faith, ‘‘But who will provide for me if I give away the money made from selling my possessions?’’ or ‘‘Surely this Scripture is not meant to be taken literally?’’ If Jesus just wanted to give an example of limited giving why would he have said, Sell all you have? Jesus’s challenge is to worldly thinking and provision. Do you believe that God is the true source of provision for your life? How are you called to give? The key is linked with these words, then come and follow me. Bless you.
