Patience and perseverance

1 Corinthians 13:4 ‘Love is patient….’

Of all the words used to describe love in this most beautiful scripture we are introduced with, ‘Love is patient’ In different translations a different word is used for ‘patient’ – ‘longsuffering.’ We are encouraged that being ‘patient’ is not love in isolation; it is followed by the word ‘kind’ and then Scripture describes further many things that love is not.You may find at times that you feel you do not have the strength to persevere in love, that an easier option is anger or other strong emotion. When we turn to God his Spirit can intervene on our behalf, in another wonderful Scripture Galatians 5:22,23 ‘…the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’ Today submit to our LORD, allow his Spirit to take control in those areas where you may be finding it difficult to love someone. Bless you.
