2 Corinthians 8:7 ‘see also that you excel in this grace of giving’
The sincerity of our love is seen by God, a deep seated welling up from within the heart? Or giving too much thought to, “When should I give, how should I give, to whom should I give?” This can cause us to procrastinate and perhaps end up not getting to the ‘grace of giving.’ Very often we associate the word ‘grace’ as only coming from God toward ourselves. Grace is often described ‘as the unmerited favour of God toward man.’ Isn’t that what you and I also can do when giving to the poor, the needy, the helpless, the injured, the destitute? They have done nothing to deserve your ‘grace.’ We are called to ‘excel in this’ Proverbs 3:9 ‘Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.’ Do you want to honour God? Today you can think carefully how you can bring honour to our LORD….he is worthy and he loves you more than you would know.
Prayer. Holy God, our great and wonderful LORD, may we honour you this week with a deep seated and sincere love.
