Listening for the promptings of God’s spirit.

1 Corinthians 10:24 ‘No one should seek his own advantage, but that of his neighbour.’

In this world of self-serving and instant gratification where the world says more and more for oneself is better, holy Scripture says less for self and more for others is better. We are guided by Jesus in Mathew 6:19-21 ‘Do not store up treasures for yourself on earth, where moth and decay destroys, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven,….For where your treasure is there also will your heart be.’ Do you allow the word of God to speak to you? You may consider, “What about all my hard earned assets?”….”Surely I should be able to enjoy the fruit of my labours?” We need to ask ourselves “Did I achieve through the skills God gave me and through his providence, or did I achieve this without God?” You have a choice – to spend time seeking God’s calling over your life and then translate into action or follow the worldly scripting of self. Following our LORD with our hand open giving and serving, allows God to place great blessings into your still open hand and heart.

Prayer. Holy Father, our one true God, please purpose our hearts on your calling over our lives. Please heal and restore Margaret, Jill, Karen, Teena, Ingrid, Debra, Trish, Michelle, Pedro, Charlotte, Chad, Anton, Mary, Fr Stanley, Nicky, Lidia, Tony, baby Mia, Kathry, Michael, Brandon, Mark and Peter. Amen.
