Keeping watch

Mark 14:38 ‘Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation’

The watch/sentry in the days of ancient Jerusalem would be in the tower on the walls looking out for approaching enemy day and night. Jerusalem in the time of Jesus was a Roman province, why did Jesus not call for rebellion against the Romans? The real enemy was identified by Jesus as Satan….. already within the walls, he can approach your spiritual walls as an agent of stealth, complacency, pride and worldly comfort without God’s purpose are a clear part of the strategy of the enemy. We are encouraged in Ephesians 6:11 ‘Put on the full armour of God….the belt of truth…breastplate of righteousness…gospel of peace….shield of faith…helmet of salvation….sword- the word of God… be alert and always keep praying.’ There is mighty spiritual armour for our protection. May you be strengthened today.

Prayer. Holy and merciful Father, may we be faithful in our guard-duty for you, may we be good and faithful servants with what you have entrusted to us, may we not fall into a spiritual sleep whilst keeping watch and be ready to raise the flag of discipleship on the field to withstand the enemy. Please heal Debra, Kevin, Trish, Fr Stanley, Chad, Charlotte and Gill and all those who read this mail who carry an unexpressed brokenness. Amen.
