Mark 7:13 ‘Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that’
There is much theological debate between Catholic and Evangelical churches on this Scripture. In essence our church has great traditions and teachings. We must all look to being wise and discerning in identifying that there is a line between community cultural practices, family traditions and traditions of the Church. St Paul did not condemn the traditions of the Church. A family tradition of going to church on a Sunday with the absence of a heart for Jesus is a question we must reflect on……………is that acceptable to God? St Paul challenges in Galatians 3:1 ‘You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.’ We may ask “Witchcraft in the twenty first century?” Any practice that takes your eyes off and heart away from Jesus will ‘nullify the word of God.’
Prayer. Holy LORD, we ask that in your abundant love you guide us to deepen our walk with you. We pray for healing and restoration for young Charlotte, Chad Martin, Trish Guerra, Kevin Bartley and Gill Catchpole. Amen.
