The harvest

Mark 4 : 20 ‘…like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop – thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown’

Holy Scripture speaks extensively about planting and harvesting. In this excerpt from Jesus’s parable of the sower and the seed, Jesus teaches us the steps in order to bring in a harvest for GOD. The first step is hearing the word of GOD which comes from Holy Scripture, the second step is accepting it. Here we can rationalise away anything before us, we must ask, do we explain away the word of God as “really only applies to the Protestants, we Catholics don’t read Scripture” or other explanations? We can ask ourselves, does what Jesus say have a direct bearing on the calling GOD places on our lives? We can choose to set aside busyness and spend time in reading Holy Scripture…..slowly, and letting the living word of God speak into our lives. Whatever we feed our bodies, minds, hearts, spirits and souls will affect who we are and what we represent. Come let us seek out daily the Holy word of GOD.

Prayer. Holy Father, we say thank you that we have the strength to be planters and harvesters of seed. We pray that daily we may seek out your Holy word, we may celebrate frequently in Holy Communion. That your Holy word will be written on the tablet of our hearts, that we will grow as faithful harvesters for your glory. Amen.
