Jesus told his disciples in Mark 4 v 40 “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”. Fear is the absence of faith, as written in Timothy –there is a spirit of fear out there that can rest over you or me. This can be small areas of anxiety, worry about the future….what if…..? What then……? Our Lord gives us the opposite of this fear – by faith, a spirit of power, we may say “someone else may have power, but not me” – Yes, you have power, we must be discerning –not our own worldly power or influence, Scripture says “Greater is he(Jesus) that is within you, than he(Satan) that is in this world. You and I can invoke God’s power over our lives by faith in prayer, faith in action, by love ….and feel the peace of a sound mind from God. We must not confuse the wisdom of caution with fear. We only fear our God as Holy Scripture teaches us. Fear of this world and doubting God is sin.
Prayer. Today Holy Lord we say we reject the fear the enemy tries to put over our lives, we pray that you strengthen our faith that we know you are our source, that you are the author and finisher of our faith as we know in confidence that one day we shall join you for all eternity. We say today Father that we apologise and repent for doubting you. In Jesus Holy name we pray.
